The essence of Japanese manga expression resides in story manga, a comprehensive art incorporating movie-style techniques of film and animation, along with solid plots matching those of novels. Students of the Department of Manga Media study the essence of Japanese manga based on the original theories and practice methods developed by our faculty members. Starting with the basics of manga expression, the curriculum is designed to foster authentic drawing ability, rather than superficial technique. After studying the basics of manga expressions in the first year, in the second and third years students create their own works. At the same time, they collaborate with other students in filmmaking and joint production of manga works. In the latter half of the third year, students choose one of three courses in which to engage in the production of graduation works that will be released to the public.
