SCHOOL OF PROGRESSIVE ARTS

Many of Japan's leading artists and professionals serve as faculty of the School of Progressive Arts. The school offers three majors in the Department of Media Arts (Photography and 3D Computer Graphics, Filmmaking, Manga and Animation), and two in the Department of Plastic Arts (Art Production and Crafts). Seeking heightened skills and creativity while linking individuals with society

At the Department of Plastic Arts we practice 21st century arts and crafts with fresh sensitivity. Students are required to enroll in a wide range of classes to sharpen their skills and expressive techniques: from fine arts, sculpture, spatial design and media arts (for Art Production majors) to ceramics, glass, woodworking, metal and jewelry works (for Crafts majors). Besides coursework, students are encouraged to participate in local projects to help them develop as craft artists who can play active roles in society through their artistic endeavors.
