SCHOOL OF PROGRESSIVE ARTS

Many of Japan's leading artists and professionals serve as faculty of the School of Progressive Arts. The school offers three majors in the Department of Media Arts (Photography and 3D Computer Graphics, Filmmaking, Manga and Animation), and two in the Department of Plastic Arts (Art Production and Crafts). We offer a wide range of classes to foster greater expressive capacity among students.

Comprehensive and cross-disciplinary curriculum covering all fields of Media Arts

In the Department of Media Arts, faculty members on the leading edge of their professions provide students with intensive training. Each major is independent but closely related: moving photographs become movies, just as animation is moving manga. Both fields make full use of the latest computer graphic technologies. The Media Arts department offers students a comprehensive and cross-disciplinary curriculum taught in a consistent, well-structured way in order to foster artists who can create works that speak to us. Students hone their skills in both fundamental and cutting-edge technology, aiming to become creators who can work in a wide range of fields.
