Graduate School of Design Research Design Theory Division Integrated Design Division The Graduate School of Kobe Design University has two divisions, the Design Theory Division (Master's Course and Doctoral Course) and the Integrated Design Division (Master's Course). The aim of the "Design Theory Division" is to provide a systematic study of theoretical design and to cultivate researchers and active leading designers. This is a research course. The "Integrated Design Division" aims to determine the direction of design through real experiences in society and to cultivate designers with a comprehensive outlook. This is a practical course that reflects the complexity and diversity of modern society. These two divisions are like the two sides of a coin: they are closely related and complement each other. Emphasis is put on design practice, reflecting the nature of design study. In order to meet the needs of mature students, the doctoral course of the Design Theory Division includes a program that enables students to continue their practical design work in a nonacademic environment while pursuing a degree.
