Graduate School of Arts and Design

The Graduate School of Arts and Design covers a wide range of fields: art, science and engineering, literature, and many other professional fields. We also actively recruit international students and students entering from the workforce. While we have undergraduate departments with specialized majors including Media Arts, Plastic Arts, Visual Design, Fashion and Textile Design, Product Design, and Environmental Design, our Graduate School focuses on cross-disciplinary research among such fields as culture, history, sociology, science and technology, and project-planning and design.

■Integrated Arts Division (Master's Degree Course)

The Integrated Arts Division, which began in 2008, aims to train professionals with a strong sense of integrity and established individual expressions and techniques. Graduates will develop a firm grounding in the progressive arts, media and information technology, and traditional arts and culture.

■Integrated Design Division (Master's Degree Course)

Through researching design and creating works, the Integrated Design Division seeks to enhance the sensitive creativity of designers who can develop and integrate ideas and strategies, backed with the professional knowledge, skills and techniques needed in today's complex society.

■Arts and Design Division (Doctor's Degree Course)

As a higher degree program set above the Integrated Arts Division and Integrated Design Division, the Arts and Design Division fosters sophisticated and intelligent designers who can contribute knowledge to society based on their design research. This Division also aims to train creative researchers with proven research and development capabilities, as well as university professors with a strong aptitude for teaching and research.
